Arcola MX

Arcola MX, which plenty of locals still call Vic's MX Compound, sits on 40 acres of rolling hills in Roseland, right off the I-55 Arcola and Roseland exit. That puts it in easy reach of Baton Rouge, the New Orleans metro and south Mississippi, which is why it pulls riders from across the Gulf Coast rather than just Tangipahoa Parish.

The dirt is a genuine mix, hardpack through loose dirt into sand, and the main track gets rebuilt, groomed and watered rather than left to bake. The layout runs small jumps, big jumps and wide berms. There are no single track woods trails here, it is a motocross property. It rides best for intermediate riders, though there are slower, manageable sections that let a beginner find their feet without being thrown in.

There is a separate pit bike track alongside the main one, so the little bikes have somewhere to go that is not the big track.

Gates are open Sunday, 9 AM to 3 PM. This is a private property run as a family place, kids and pets welcome, and an MX helmet is required any time you are on a bike.

The pit area has mature shade trees and plenty of open ground for trucks and trailers, which in a Louisiana summer is not a small thing. There is a restroom on site. Camping is allowed in designated areas of the compound, but two rules are firm: no campfires and no night riding.

The place also draws travelling coaching. The MX Factory has run its Technique Tour here, bringing in outside coaches to work on body position, cornering and jump entry.
