Private Mat-Su Valley track since 1996. Groomed/watered. Evening practice Tue/Thu.
What riders find
Rival Park Motocross in Palmer, Alaska has been running since 1996, a private motocross track in the Mat-Su Valley north of Anchorage.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is the fastest-growing region in the state, and Palmer serves as the agricultural and motorsports hub for the valley, which makes Rival Park the local track for Alaska's largest population center outside Anchorage.
The dirt is groomed and watered, no small commitment at this latitude with a season this short.
Evening practice runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 10pm, weather permitting. That window works because of Alaska's summer daylight: June and July evenings here stay light well past midnight, so 6:30 to 10 is prime riding time.
The Anchorage Racing Lions, the volunteer club that supports Alaska motorsports, bring competitive racing to the property. Between Rival Park and Kincaid Motocross in Anchorage, the two tracks cover most of south-central Alaska's organized motocross calendar.
Palmer is about 45 minutes northeast of Anchorage via the Glenn Highway, with Wasilla about 15 minutes west. The track serves the whole Mat-Su Valley and pulls Anchorage riders for evening sessions and race weekends.
