Hilo MX Track (808 MX)

Hilo MX Track (808 MX) in Hilo, on Hawaii's Big Island, is the island's primary motocross track, managed by the 808MX/ATV Association. For local riders it is the island's entire motocross calendar; the geography settles the question of where to ride.

The club model is the reason the track exists at all. The Big Island's motocross community organizes the operation, funds the property, and maintains the dirt itself, because nobody was ever going to build it commercially. It is community-owned and rider-managed in the most literal sense.

Practice runs Wednesdays and Fridays, 10am to 4pm. The midweek-only schedule reflects how the local rider base actually rides, rather than forcing a weekend-warrior calendar onto a small island community.

Riding is $5 per rider, about as accessible as track pricing gets anywhere in the country. Club membership ($25 individual, $45 family) and Riders Network insurance are both required for access; the membership dues cover the overhead, which is what makes the $5 ride fee possible.

The track serves riders on the Hilo side, in Puna, in Kau, and across eastern Hawaii, and there is no second track to compare against: the choice is 808 MX or no motocross.
