Profile · Georgia

Georgia Motocross.

Long season, red Georgia clay, and one of the busier amateur scenes in the southeast. Aonia Pass MX in Washington is the headliner, Calhoun Motocross up north, Alma down toward the Florida line, plus a Loretta Lynn's regional qualifier circuit that pulls riders from five neighboring states. The clay sets up tacky after a watering and goes from grippy to glassy depending on how the prep crew runs the morning. Spring (March through May) is the prime window before humidity goes ugly. October and November are the second window, often better than spring because the dust settles faster after the first cold snap. Mid-summer is survivable if you ride the dawn or dusk sessions; otherwise plan to drink your bodyweight in water. AMA District 22 runs the points series and the local pro-am scene is competitive enough that out-of-state riders cherry-pick weekends here on the way to and from Loretta's. Wear a vest, not a chest protector, between June and September.
