What to expect
Old bikes, fresh dirt. Midwest Vintage MX (MWVMX) brings its AMA-chartered vintage motocross series to Muddy Waters MX in Port Byron, Illinois for a two-day race weekend on October 17 and 18, 2026. Gates open Friday, October 16 at 4 PM for camping, and both race days run the riders meeting at 8:45 AM with practice at 9 and racing to follow.
Gate is $15 per person per day and camping is $25 per unit for the weekend. Class entry fees follow the series schedule on midwestvintagemx.com, and every rider needs a current AMA card; minors need an annual AMA minor release on file or both parents at sign-up, no exceptions. Muddy Waters is a sand and loam track on the Mississippi north of the Quad Cities.
Classes for everyone both days, and each day is a separate race: Vintage, Vet, EVO, Modern A, B and C, 125, 2-Stroke, Women, Beginners and 50, 65 and 85cc. Sign-up bonus: for every two classes you enter you get a free gate fee or camping vehicle fee (your choice) for Saturday or Sunday of the Halloween 2 Smokin Showdown weekend. One class Saturday plus one class Sunday earns one gate or camping vehicle fee; two classes each day earns two gate fees, or one camper vehicle fee and one gate fee. The full Midwest VMX class list covers Vintage (1974 and older: 100cc, 0-200, 250-500, 40+ to 70+ Open), EVO (1975 to 2001: 0-200, EVO 1 through 5 by year, 40+ to 70+), Modern (2002 and newer: A, B, C and 40+ to 70+), specialty classes (2-Stroke Open, 35+ 2-Stroke, Beginner Vintage and EVO, Woman Open, Open Age Any Ability) and youth 50cc electric, 50, 65 and 85cc. Classes may be combined or split based on numbers.
