What to expect
Mecosta MX runs a race weekend on Saturday October 17 and Sunday October 18, with a PIT BIKE RACE on the card alongside the motocross.
The track has posted the dates but says more details are coming soon, so times, classes and entry fees are not out yet. Watch the Mecosta MX Facebook page or mecostamx.com, and note the gate is cash only.
Backed by Ryan's Equipment, with The Lazy Lemon on food.
The class list is out: 50cc through 65cc Jr, Sr and Open (the 50 SS class gets a track cut), Mini C and Open, 85 Jr and Sr, Schoolboy, Trail Jr and Sr, Open A/B, B/C, C and D, 250 C, 125 B/C, Girls and Women, age classes at 14, 25, 35, 45 and 55 plus, Vet Beginner, and five pit bike classes from Bone Stock 110 to Open Outlaw. Every class runs on the big track. Entry fees and the race-day timetable were not in the post, so watch the Mecosta MX Facebook page.
Holeshot awards: $100 per class on Saturday only, $50 per moto, put up by local sponsors. Sponsored so far: 50 Jr (American Recreation Insurance Agency), 50 Sr (Ryan's Equipment), 50 SS (Lowell Life Racing), 50 Open and 65 Jr (Extremely Clean), 65 Sr (Ryan's Equipment), 65 Open (RCJ Contracting), 85 Jr (Lowell Life Racing), Mini Open (Giant Roofing), Schoolboy (Lucas Lowe Training), Girls, 125 B/C and 35 Plus (Ryan's Equipment), Open B/C (Alley Gutters), 250 C (Signature Performance Racing), Open Beginner D (Extremely Clean), 14 Plus (Giant Roofing) and Vet Beginner (American Recreation Insurance Agency).
Vendors on site include Trufant Motorsports, Heckman Productions, Freese Frame Photography, You Chill We Grill and The Lazy Lemon. Friday, October 16 is open practice ahead of the weekend, and camping is allowed.
Gates open Thursday for arrivals, Friday practice runs 11 AM to 3 PM, and the 50cc classes race an abbreviated track. Mecosta MX is at 8636 11 Mile Road.
