What to expect
The Gypsie Moto D30 Border War Series crowns its champions with the AMA South Dakota State Motocross Championship round on the Jackpine Gypsies' natural-terrain track, opening Sturgis Rally week. Friday, July 31 the gates open after 6 PM (close at 10) with pre-registration 7 to 8 PM. Saturday, August 1 runs gates at 7 AM, practice 9 to noon, micro registration 10 to noon, the Micro GP motos at 12:30 (Micro 3 Limited through Micro Open, STACYC included), and pre-registration 4 to 6 PM. Sunday, August 2 is championship day: sign-up 6 to 7:30 AM, a mandatory riders meeting at 7:30 sharp (required to get a practice ticket), practice laps at 8, and the GP motos to follow across the full class ladder from 250 Pro Sport to 450 C (race order subject to change). Gate fees run $40 for a Friday-through-Sunday weekend pass or $20 a day, with kids 4 and under free. Parking is first come, first served with no spot saving; reserve a spot for $21 pre-paid by texting Marie at (605) 646-5864. Minors must have a signed, notarized release at registration.
