What to expect

Round 1 of the 2026 Sand Surf Showdown Series at WHipp MX in Owensville, Indiana's largest sand track. An AMA-style race program built for everyone from first-time racers to riders chasing the podium. Sunday runs gates at 6 AM, late registration and check-in 7 to 8 AM, the riders meeting at 8:15 AM, opening ceremonies at 8:45 AM, and racing from 9 AM. Saturday, August 29 is practice only, 4 PM to 7 PM, with the main registration window that afternoon and evening. Two motos decide the overall in every qualifying class. Motos are 10 minutes plus one lap, except 50cc Open and E-Bike Open which run 8 minutes plus one lap. Riders can enter multiple eligible classes, and medals go to the top three in every class. Bikes, quads and e-bikes all race. A class needs at least four riders to run independently, and anything short of that may be combined with a similar class at the officials' discretion. The official race order is: E-Bike Open, 250 C, 50cc Open, Quad 50cc (4-6), 65cc (7-9), Vet 30+, 85cc (9-11), Quad 90cc (8-15), 250 B, Girls 65cc (7-11), 450 C, then a track maintenance break of 20 to 30 minutes if needed, then Quad 250cc, 65cc (10-11), Vet 40+, 85cc (12-15), Open Amateur, Girls 65cc (11-16), 450 B, Open A / Pro, Schoolboy and Quad Open. Concessions and camping are on site and the whole weekend is set up to be family friendly. The track has not published gate or entry fees for this round. Check whippmotocross.com or the Whipp Motocross Facebook page before you travel.
Details can change. Dates, times, fees and schedules come from the track's own posts and fliers and can change with weather, track conditions and other circumstances. Call before you haul, or check the track's Facebook page, before you make the trip.
