About MXParksBot.
If you run a motocross track website and saw MXParksBot in your logs, this page explains what it is and how to control it.
MXParksBot is the automated fetcher for MXParks.com, a free directory of motocross tracks and race schedules across the United States. It reads public calendar feeds and event flyers from track websites so riders searching MXParks see your practices and race days. It is read-only. It never posts, submits forms, creates accounts, or logs into anything.
How to identify it
- IP address:
191.96.56.31(every request comes from this single address) - User agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MXParksBot/1.0; +https://mxparks.com/bot)
Requests identify as MXParksBot by default. Because some firewalls block any user agent containing the word "bot" no matter how it behaves, a refused request may be retried once with a standard browser user agent from the same IP. The IP address is the reliable identifier either way.
What it fetches and how often
- Calendar feeds (iCal/.ics, Google Calendar): once per day, overnight US time, one request per configured feed.
- Event images linked from those feeds: once per new event, cached on our servers afterward so we never hotlink your bandwidth.
- Calendar discovery: a one-time scan of a track site's homepage and common calendar paths to find a public feed. A handful of requests, one second apart, never repeated unless we re-check manually.
- Backlink verification: for tracks whose owners claimed their MXParks listing, a weekly fetch of the linked page to confirm their directory badge.
Total traffic to any single site is typically one or two requests per day.
Want your events listed? Allow it
If your firewall or hosting provider is blocking us, your MXParks track page shows no upcoming events while nearby tracks show full schedules. Whitelist the IP address 191.96.56.31, or add an allow rule for the MXParksBot user agent. If that is a hassle, send us a link to your public calendar (a Google Calendar share link works great) and we will handle the rest.
Want it to stop? Tell us once
Block the IP above and it stays blocked, or just contact us and we will disable fetching for your site on our end within a couple of days. We keep a per-site off switch, so one message is enough.
